One of my favorite sounds in the library is the gentle “beep” of Middle School students checking out books on their own. Although Middle School students don’t have regularly scheduled library classes, they are making wonderful use of the library and exploring books independently.
This summer we refreshed the library’s layout to make it easier for Middle and Upper School students to find what they’re looking for. A new self-serve kiosk now allows them to quickly check books in and out on their own. While the furniture has shifted and some books have new homes, our collection remains as strong as ever—and we’re adding new titles every week! Thanks to the Trinity Charger Alliance Grants, we also introduced clear bins and displays to help students browse more easily and discover new favorites.
Another exciting addition is our new library website, launched last spring and accessible through the Trinity School Resource Board under “Library.” The site features:
Our online catalog, Destiny Discover
Resources for eBooks and audiobooks
Access to the school’s research databases
Sora by Overdrive, a free app with hundreds of digital titles (plus thousands more when linked to the Midland County Public Library)
Tutorials to help families get started with digital resources
The Library Collection Development Policy and Handbook
As I begin my second year serving our school community in the library, I am deeply grateful to be part of a place that values and celebrates reading and storytelling. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions—or stop by the library to see what’s new!
