Lower School Art

Lower School Art students are exposed to artists, art periods, geographic locations and time periods with every project. Through art, students learn about their emotions, how to communicate with others, and how to observe and analyse through art. Lower School Art is a starting point for students to gain excitement about their future as an artist.
Melissia Hoke has been teaching for 18 1,2 years and has loved every minute of the adventure! In the past, she taught 6th grade Reading and Language Arts, Fine Arts (Music, Art, and Drama), and is extremely excited to continue teaching the subject she is most passionate about, ART! She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science and Academic Studies. She has lived in Midland for most of her life and is a graduate of Lee High School. Mrs. Hoke has always had a love for the fine arts. She started creating and drawing from a young age, and her interest continued to grow. She loves to create all kinds of art, but her favorite is acrylic painting and collage. You can also find her behind the piano in Lower School chapel. She looks forward to getting to know all of her Lower School students, and is excited to help them on their journey to become the masterpieces she knows they are!
Mikala Bryand graduated from McMurry University Honors College in 2019 with a BA in Marketing and a minor in Fine Arts. During her time at McMurry, Mikala was a member of the golf team, the women’s golf representative for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee(SAAC), a member of the Honors Program, and the author of an honors thesis exploring the psychology behind logo design trends. Her artwork is permanently featured in the C.E. Maedgen Building at McMurry University. Mikala joined Trinity in 2020 after 2 years with the Midland College in-house marketing team, and their out-of-house marketing firm; The Hancock Group. She served in Trinity’s preschool division as a K3 aid for 2 years, and accepted the position as a lower/middle school art teacher in 2022. She enjoys creating art, swimming, video games, playing golf with her husband Levi, and spending time with her friends and family.
