Bring Your Own Device Technology Program

All students in grades 9-12 should come to school equipped with a laptop device compatible with the specifications listed below.  Trinity School uses Google Apps for Education, which means that many different types of devices will work and all files are accessible wherever there is an Internet connection. Students who anticipate participating in photography, yearbook, or digital art classes will need to consider obtaining a laptop that is capable of running Adobe Creative Cloud programs (see specifics below). Any student whose circumstances prohibit his or her purchase of a laptop will have access to a school-owned device.

The table below describes the characteristics and specifications of what constitute a compatible device. There is no one single “perfect machine,” but there are parameters that will be important to ensure that your child’s device will work with the school's network and the technological applications that we use.  The table indicates the minimum specifications, and there are many devices whose specs fall within the range of available options.

Prices start at around $250, but could go to $2,000 if those high-end devices are desired. There are examples given below of compatible devices but they are provided only to give an idea as to the range of capabilities and prices. For the purpose of comparison, all the examples were found on Amazon, but there is no requirement to purchase from any particular supplier and it is recommended that you shop around.

The minimum specifications outlined below should allow your child to have a device that will be practical and functional for at least four years.
