Blakely Winstead

Alumna '06

"Trinity helped prepare me for both college and adulthood."
Trinity helped prepare me for both college and adulthood: the faculty and community created an atmosphere where academic excellence was a priority and curiosity was encouraged. Beyond pursuing good grades, I was inspired to set big goals for myself. For example, I remember taking AP Physics my senior year with Ann Stroup, an engineer herself, and I found it remarkable that the class was comprised of four women. Mrs. Stroup is a powerful example of female representation in STEM fields, and I often thought of what I learned in her class while I was a student at Purdue. I am so thankful for the experience I had at Trinity!

Blakely attended Trinity School from the 4th through 12th grade. She was a chapel acolyte, a member of the Honor Council, active in student government, and a cheerleading captain. Through Richard Catania’s French class, Blakely was able to travel abroad for the first time and live with a French host family the summer after her junior year. Since then she has returned to France for three additional study abroad opportunities: two in undergrad and one in grad school. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2011 and The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a Master’s in Business Administration in 2019. Blakely worked at Microsoft for nearly 10 years and is currently a Finance & Strategy Segment Lead for Stripe.

She lives in Chicago with her husband, Matthew Van Mill.
