The Blackketters

Alumni '03 and '04

“I was always encouraged by all my teachers to . . . push my critical thinking skills.”
Lauren Party Blackketter `04, and her husband David `03, are Trinity lifers, and have a daughter, Reagan, in the first grade at Trinity. Lauren was a member of choir and MOAS as a high school student, participated in theater productions both onstage and behind the scenes, competed in TAPPS competitions, and participated in many servant leadership projects. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and manages her family’s oil and gas business, Beryl Oil and Gas. In 2014, Lauren established Wine, Women and Shoes as the Midland Rape Crisis and Children’s Advocacy Center’s signature fundraiser and has chaired the event every year. Her work has helped to dramatically increased community awareness for sexual assault and child abuse. Lauren was named as a member of the Midland Reporter-Telegram’s inaugural “20 Under 40” class of young professionals in Midland, serves as the Alumni Chair for Trinity School, and was inducted to the Trinity Hall of Honor in 2018

David Blackketter was involved in Honor Council, Student Council, baseball, and MOAS as a high school student. He also participated in many theater productions and competed in TAPPS academic competitions. David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is the Vice President of Acquisitions & Divestitures for Texas Standard Oil. David said one of the most important things he learned from his time at Trinity School was a firsthand look at what true leadership is. “The faculty had high expectations and would remind you when you were not meeting them,” Blackketter said. “I was always encouraged by all my teachers to be more prepared for what I had to do, to push my critical thinking skills, to tackle the tasks at hand, and to show my work as proof of my knowledge and integrity.”

Both Lauren and David agree that Trinity teachers are leading students to be better individuals mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and they do this with firm direction and an enormous amount of compassion.
